在《狂野飆車 9：競速傳奇》之中，準備了「Touchdrive」「Tilt to Steer」「Tap to Steer」這三種操作方法。「Touchdrive」幾乎採全程自動進行，玩家所能做的就只有在突入彎道時點擊畫面左下角發動甩尾，點擊畫面右側使用氮氣噴射之類的指令。由於加速 / 減速、方向操作都將自動進行調整，能夠輕鬆享受高速賽車的快感。
「Tilt to Steer」則是透過傾斜手機機身來進行方向操作，在三種操作方法之中，最能體驗操作賽車的感覺。要說有什麼缺點，就是不太適合在搖晃的電車內等場所進行遊玩吧。
「Tap to Steer」，則是點擊畫面左側就會向左，點擊右側就會向右轉動方向盤的操作模式。由於甩尾與氮氣加速是全模式共通的操作方式，在此模式下便會形成到處點擊各處的忙碌狀況。在習慣操作方式之前，很常發生像是想要往右轉方向盤，卻不小心用成氮氣加速等失誤的情形。
